Artist Statement
With over two decades of experience in both film and digital photography, my work explores themes of isolation, impermanence, and the sublime presence of nature. I favor the disciplined process of medium format film and traditional darkroom techniques to render compositions steeped in quietude, often from the remote landscapes of the American West. My goal is to create images that transcend documentation and invite a deeper emotional connection through tonal nuance, compositional stillness, and the presence of natural light.

Collect Art, Tbilisi, Georgia (August 2025) – Five of my black-and-white works (Before the Storm on Convict Lake, Sierra Crescendo, Solitude in the Valley, Storm on the Pass, and Volcanic Expression) were selected for inclusion in the 77th special magazine edition “B&W Photography”. This feature includes a dedicated article with my biography and artist interview, presenting my creative vision alongside the selected works.
My image “Motherhood” was selected for exhibition by Carlotta Gallery, Hertfordshire, UK, as part of its international “Dark Frames 2” Online Photography Exhibition, Fall 2025. This recognition underscores the image’s dramatic interplay of light and form, capturing resilience and grace within the stark Sierra landscape. The selection places the work among a curated collection of fine art photography that explores the power of shadow, contrast, and visual storytelling.
“Sierra Crescendo” received international recognition in a landscape photography competition August 18, 2025, hosted by PhotoCrowd in Oxford, Oxfordshire, UK. Out of 100 finalists, the image placed 13th overall in participant voting, and was awarded 4th place by expert judges, marking it as one of the standout works in the field. This honor highlights the dramatic power and artistry of the Sierra landscape as captured in fine art black and white.”
