Bridalveil Lightfall

Captured in late afternoon light from Yosemite Valley, this view of Bridalveil Fall reveals one of nature’s fleeting spectacles — a rainbow shimmering through the mist as the perfect angle of sunlight intersects with the fall. Using a Canon 5D Mark III and a 70–200 mm lens, I waited until the sun dropped low enough to create the prismatic glow that briefly appeared and vanished with the shifting spray. The surrounding granite cliffs, etched by time and shadow, amplify the sense of scale and permanence, contrasting with the delicate, momentary spectrum suspended in air. This image is both a study in light’s transience and a tribute to Yosemite’s majesty.
