Cradle of Light

In the heart of Lundy Canyon, just north of Mono Lake in California’s Eastern Sierra, autumn blazes with a final, glorious display. This image showcases the peak of the season: golden aspens surrounding a quiet mountain lake, while the towering cliffs catch the day’s first warm light. A solitary cabin nestled among the trees evokes stillness and shelter from the coming snowstorms and winter isolation. The snow-dusted peaks stand as silent guardians above, completing a scene both majestic and intimate. This photograph captures the meditation on seasonal transition, solitude, and the grandeur of the High Sierra.

This image was captured with a Mamiya 645 medium format camera with 80mm Zeiss lens, on Kodak Porta 160 film.
