Cradle of Light

In the heart of Lundy Canyon, just north of Mono Lake in California’s Eastern Sierra, autumn blazes in a final, glorious crescendo. Captured with a Mamiya 645 medium format camera on Kodak Porta 160 film, this image showcases the peak of the season: golden aspens surrounding a quiet mountain lake, while the towering cliffs catch the day’s first warm light. A solitary cabin nestled among the trees, with wisps of smoke rising from its chimney, evokes stillness and shelter. The snow-dusted peaks stand as silent guardians above, completing a scene both majestic and intimate. This photograph is a fine art meditation on seasonal transition, solitude, and the grandeur of the High Sierra.
