Giants of Granite

Captured on a crisp early spring morning in Yosemite National Park, Giants of Granite presents two of America’s most iconic geological landmarks—El Capitan and Half Dome—bathed in the dramatic interplay of light, cloud, and shadow. I used a 400mm lens to create a unique perspective that brings these two monoliths close to the eye for breathtaking realism. The morning mist draping El Capitan adds a sense of movement and majesty, while the snow-lined ridges lead the viewer’s eye through the valley toward the rounded peak of Half Dome.

Taken with my Canon 5D Mark III full-frame camera, this monochrome rendering brings focus to the raw textures and timeless form of the granite faces.
