This image is a contemplative black-and-white study of Yosemite National Park’s Half Dome, viewed from Glacier Point. The photo reveals a unique perspective from a platform looking down on the scene. In addition, I took this image in the spring, revealing the raging flow of water from both Vernal Fall and Nevada Fall, not often captured from this view. Subtle textural detail on the dome gives a sense and feel of enduring strength and solitude. I intended for this piece to invite you to pause and reflect on nature’s timeless power and beauty. The day this image was captured, beautiful and threatening clouds were swirling above a vast area of Yosemite Valley.

I used a Hasselblad 500cm medium format camera with a Zeiss 80mm Planar lens, with Ilford Delta 100 film, and extended exposure to soften the waterfalls.
