Volcanic Expression

Once a mighty volcano that soared as high as 24,000 feet, the Sutter Buttes now rise humbly—weathered remnants of ancient fire. In this monochrome rendering, I aimed to capture the quiet dignity of this unique landform, often called the smallest mountain range in the world. Soft morning light reveals the flowing contours of the hills, while a solitary tree stands as witness to millennia of erosion, rebirth, and stillness.
